The Snow Moon
Casey Wick Abley

Snow Moon (February)_edited.jpg

Named the snow moon because February was often the snowiest month of the year in the northern hemisphere. Imagine a full moon over a pristine, snow covered landscape. There could arise a feeling of purity and clarity. Perhaps this inspires a sense of feeling humbled by its magical glow off the snow and a renewed desire to be of service to what truly matters to your soul.

Virgo and Pisces are on the same axis — Pisces the Spiritual, Virgo the Practical. They complement each other. The Virgo Full Moon is facing the Sun with the Earth in the middle. In this moment, we can synthesize the two energies and express our Spirit made Manifest on Earth.

How does your Spirit express itself through your body? How can your Spirit serve others through the actions of your body? Is your body healthy and strong so that your Spirit can manifest with ease and joy? Are you so worried about whether or not you are healthy enough, good enough, busy enough that you forgot all about your Spirit?

This full Moon reflects the answers and gives you the opportunity to gain clarity in this area of your life and release all that stands in the way of Spirit expressing itself through your body in loving actions of service.

Virgo Full Moon Rituals: Discern and Release

A full moon is a time of completion, culmination, and letting go. And when the full moon is carrying the energy of discerning, service-oriented Virgo opposite the sun in compassionate, dreamy Pisces, it can be a prime time to discern which dreams and illusions are not serving us, and then let them go.

Ritual One

Tie knots in a piece of yarn or twine, each knot representing something you would like to release.

Once completed, you might either choose to safely burn the knotted cord in a fire.

Another option is to bury your knotted cord deep into Mother Earth. Virgo is an earth sign so this method might feel more resonant.

Ritual Two

Take a salt bath. Pisces is a water sign, so utilizing water to release and purify at the Virgo full moon might feel best. You can add the purifying scent of rosemary to your bathwater.

Set your intentions for release, and then step into the bath.

Imagine all that you want to be released flowing from your body into the water.

Offer gratitude to the water and the salt and the aromas.

Rise out of the tub, dry your body, perhaps apply a healing oil to your skin, and tap into the feelings of lightness, clarity and purity.

Virgo Full Moon Rituals:
Dreams and Reality
Casey Wick Abley

During Pisces season, we all may feel closer to our dreams. We are likely to be in touch with our oneness with all there is as the details dissolve away, for a while at least.

When the full moon comes about in Virgo, we are given the opportunity to view our daily reality against our inner dreams. Details are elusive, but we are in the mood to be useful, to improve our experience of life.

Ritual One (for children)

With your children, share what each person dreams for themselves and/or the world.

How would they love to feel each day?

What do they like to do that makes them feel the way they want to feel?

Perhaps the feeling is “happy,” and riding their bike makes them feel happy.

The Virgo full moon can show us the importance of caring for our bikes, the details like checking the brakes and polishing the bell, so that they can ride the bike and feel the

way they want to feel.

The Virgo full Moon during Pisces season illuminates the practical steps we can take toward nourishing our inner dreams.

Ritual Two (for parents)

For some, becoming a parent was the dream of a lifetime. For others, it was a surprise. There are many ways to relate to the role of parent. The experience is as varied as it is common. Most parents will experience

moments when the desire to escape the relentless responsibility of caring for a child (or children) becomes strong. The dream has morphed into something we didn’t expect.

Pisces is also the sign of escapism and

during the season of Pisces, what was once a sacred experience has become so mundane that the magic seems lost, and the urge to escape enters our awareness.

Along comes the Virgo full Moon, and we have the light and the energy to feel our feet back on the ground and the energy to

make breakfast for all the hungry people in the house.

But not only can we be practical again, but we can make it our sacred work.

To do this, let’s explore the different ways to make breakfast.

1. You could light a candle in the kitchen before you begin, signaling that the work you are undertaking is sacred work, and is recognized as such. This isn't just breakfast. This is being of service to humankind by feeding those in your charge.

2. You could play music while you prepare breakfast, allowing yourself to tap back into the dreamy part of yourself while you complete the tasks at hand. Music is healing and is a powerful intersection between Pisces

and Virgo, both of which value healing and well-being.

3. You could feed yourself first. Or, you could feed your family first and

then create a special ritual for your own breakfast, experiencing first

hand the benefits of a breakfast made with sacred intention.

4. You could imagine that your home is a temple and the kitchen is your magician’s workshop. Imagine you are a "Kitchen Witch.” Or choose another creative title. Use your imagination (Pisces) to cook daily healing foods (Virgo) for those in your temple space.

Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.
