Welcome to the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra occurring on March 25th, 2024
A full moon in Libra is a culminating moment in the way we approach our one-on-one relationships. A conversation, event, or just a strong emotion may invite us to address whatever issues have been bubbling below the surface. The nature of an eclipse, however, is a bit Uranian. So, this conversation, event, or emotion could be a bit abrupt or unexpected.
What we can anticipate are the general themes. The South Node in Libra and the North Node in Aries bring up these conundrums: How can we contribute to a relationship without negotiating our integrity away? Is compromise always appropriate? Do we have reservations about unity? Or do we have reservations about an authentic I AM presence? What patterns or beliefs do we need to let go of?
Letting go is a theme that is central to a South Node eclipse. And the ruler of this eclipse is Venus in Pisces--a sign that also carries the signature of endings, dissolution, and release.
I wish I had all the answers to the thorny questions above, but they are for each of us to navigate ourselves.
On a positive note, I sense that the guidance we intuit will be good, creative, expansive, yet simple and sound. The ruler of the eclipse is Venus in Pisces, conjunct Saturn and sextile Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus. Not only does Venus in Pisces offer a more cosmic perspective, it is sextile and in mutual reception with Jupiter (conjunct Uranus) in Taurus. This further supports expanded (Jupiter), innovative (Uranus), simple (Taurus) solutions to any issues illuminated by the eclipse. Saturn conjunct Venus encourages us to keep at least a few toes grounded in reality, so our solutions withstand the test of time.
Overall, there is a lot of positive synergy here that will help us flow with this eclipse energy in unexpected directions. This really seems to be a continuation and intensification of the New Moon in Pisces theme (see previous blog post).
The ruler of the Sun, the North Node, Chiron, and Mercury is Mars in Pisces. So despite all the Aries energy, it won’t feel quite as combative as one might expect. Mars in Pisces will have us navigating these dicey waters with more compassion, more creativity, and more divine intuition than usual. (Though, in a lower vibration, Mars in Pisces can be a bit passive-aggressive or escapist.)
Now for a few caveats. Neptune in opposition to the full moon might challenge us to stay present and in our bodies. There may be a strong urge to slip into delusion or escape the situation altogether. Pluto in Aquarius is offering support to both oppositions (Sun and Moon; Moon and Neptune) and inviting us to frame our personal issues in a much broader (Aquarius) and deeper (Pluto) context. It asks, “What new behaviors and patterns can you adopt in your life and in your relationships that you would like to see eventually reflected in society?”
My eye also goes to Mercury within a five-degree orb of Chiron . . . which if triggered, could have us feeling all the ways our sense of self, our identity, our divinity have been corrupted in the past. A Neptunian escape-hatch might be tempting. But, instead, attempt to stay present enough to tap into the healing nature of Chiron, the potential is here to soothe and then dissolve these wounds for good.
I would also be remiss if I did not mention the sesqui-square between the full moon and Uranus. Sesqui-squares represent smoldering tension, like decades-old resentments that have never been adequately addressed. So, this aspect signals the possibility of being pulled down into tired narratives and thought-loops. With Uranus exactly trine Lilith in Virgo (down to the minute!), the themes may have to do with the suppressed feminine aspect within our relationships. Instead of sinking into victim-consciousness, we need to reach for a broader, more neutral, less personal perspective. This will allow us to access the creative, innovative options I referenced at the beginning of this post.
By the time I get to the end of describing all the aspects, the primary theme can get muddied or completely lost. Bringing in the Tarot often helps to clarify the take home message.
Tarot Card: Two of Scrolls (Swords). I am always in awe of the power of the Tarot. This is one of the cards of Libra. The Unicorn (alicorn) represents mysticism, intuition, and the third eye . . . underscoring the significance of the eclipse ruler, Venus in Pisces.
The New Moon in Pisces cards were the Two of Wands and the Unicorn. For this eclipse, we have another two vibration signaling a choice point and, perhaps, a relationship issue. We also have another Unicorn (or alicorn) signaling a third eye activation.
When the eclipse energy unfurls, we will have two options.
One scroll represents sticking with the old stories attached about an old issue attached to an old identity that you have long outgrown.
The other scroll represents the opportunity to simply observe the mind, get bored with the stories, and lean into a more expanded understanding of yourself as an eternal spirit experiencing this Earth for a short time. This second scroll will engage your third eye (6th chakra), and bestow wings. You can take flight, soar high above the terrain, and see the 360 perspective. From this vantage point, you can respond instead of react. And your response will be new, simple, peaceful, and effective. The earthy terrain represents Venus (eclipse ruler) conjunct Saturn . . . indicating that this new approach is grounded in ancient wisdom and will withstand the test of time.
The Unicorn also represents purity. The horn was thought to have the power to pull toxins out of water and disease out of people. This may also be a good time think about your personal spiritual/energetic ecosystem. Is there anything in your orbit (people, behaviors, habits, thought-loops, food, water, or household products that might be making you feel ill or anxious? As we raise our vibration, shed heavy identities, we may become more sensitive to the relatively dense surroundings. Harness the energy of the Unicorn and let go of whatever might be disrupting your equilibrium.
Oracle Card: The Nightingale
Another perfect card. The nightingale is a traditional harbinger of Spring. It is known for its ability to produce more sounds than most other songbirds.
In addition to welcoming us to Spring, it encourages us to tell the truth. It is easy to give in to the desire to say what we think people want to hear. This Libran impulse (though well-intentioned) stands in the way of authentic Aries expression. So on this eclipse, let's challenge ourselves to align our energy and say what we mean with the wisdom, grace, compassion, and beauty of a nightingale.
With Love and Moonlight,
Ann
