Leo Full Moon in a New Aquarian Reality

Welcome to the Leo Full Moon. I have been feeling this one growing for the past two weeks. A kind of crackling and inspired push towards outer expression.
On Saturday, the Sun (Leo’s ruler) had a rather momentous meeting with Pluto at the 29th degree of Capricorn, and together they crossed the threshold into Aquarius where Pluto will travel for the next twenty years. This suggests that something about the deep transformation of Aquarian energy is directly tied to the ego (Sun): how we understand it, how we experience it, and how we express it.
Traditionally, the Sun has a hard time in Aquarius. Aquarius is concerned with society, community, systems thinking, humanitarian ideals, technology, space, and the future. None of these realms are particularly comfortable for the shadow side of egoic expression, which is what is often emphasized in our social media: think Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
Reflecting on this Leo Full Moon is a critical first step towards laying a foundation for a new societal paradigm. How can we express our unique divinity in a way that contributes to the greater good? How can we use our ego as a tool of collaboration rather than a tool of competition? What kind of self-care is necessary to revive Leo’s generous heart? How can we use our individual “specialness” to draw people together instead of push people away? What is that “thing” you can do that makes you feel so fulfilled that you are compelled to share? What is the Universe trying to express through your energy field? Time to let it flow!
This Full Moon is at the apex of a yod formed by Saturn in Pisces and Venus in Capricorn. Like a fated volcanic eruption, many of us will be moved to express our Leo archetype in unexpected ways. Saturn in Pisces is fueling this pressure cooker by urging us to get serious about our spiritual health, our beliefs, and our illusions. It is ruling Venus in Capricorn which underscores this message. Venus is asking us to lean into things that are true and will withstand the test of time. We are discouraged from wasting any material or emotional resources on passing fads or dead-end relationships. Mars and Mercury are conjunct, also in Capricorn. This pairing allows us to align thoughts and communications with action steps.
And, again, I’ll mention the tightening conjunction of the Aries North Node and Chiron. Underlying all of this year’s astrology is an evolving, healing sense of self. We are collectively upgrading our “I AM” energy. What does it mean to be a “self” as we mature our understanding of fundamental oneness? That is a question we all must grapple with in daily life and in our private meditations.

Spirit did not want me to forget about Jupiter in Taurus forming a T-square to the Sun and Moon. Jupiter is challenging us to regard our reality and this earthly realm through the eyes of a child. Free of judgment and self-consciousness; full of inspiration and wonder. This planet is a miracle, and we are its children. Revel in the possibilities!
With Love and Moonlight
